Honolulu is a beautiful city but very different than I am used to. I love being here with Jay, even if we are living in a little apartment. It is so different than I expected. I have love the environment and being outdoors. Highrise living with little space it not bad but noisy. Sleeping is difficult in a city environment and it doesn't ever get really dark.

I walk the beaches every day while Jay is working. If I have to get anywhere I ride my bike. One of the first things Jay did for me when I arrived is buy me a new bike. It is a great way to get around Wiakiki. Jay and I are sure getting into shape.
Jay is still white, which is funny because he has been here for three months. Hilton Hawaiian Village is my favorite place to walk. They have tons of shops and birds, penguins, turtles, koe fish, it is really pretty.
Because we are on bikes we can't do big runs on groceries. Saturday we decided to check out the local farmers market. It was really crowded but great fun. We loved all the fresh vegetable available. We rode our bikes to this one, only to realize that it was uphill the whole way. I almost cried when we finally reached the top. It was great going down though.
Jay decided to try Stand Up Paddle Boarding. This was his first lesson. He did so good but he was shocked at how tiring it is. He had the paddling down without any problem but staying up on the board is hard.
This is the view out our apartment. The apartment is really small but great for the two of us. The view makes it worth while. We looked at other places to move but we like this building so much we are staying here. It is amazing to think we actually live here for the next 5 years. I just wish the boys were with us.
Sunset every evening can be seen from the local restaurants or our own balcony. There are a lot of fog banks that appear in the way but it is still a great way to spend the end of the day.

The only thing missing is the boys being here. They are doing well in Arizona, keeping up the house and appear to be fine but I miss them. We have email, phones, and all the chat options but I can't wait until they can visit.Harper Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14732863521601187814noreply@blogger.com0Hawaiian Islands, USA21.238182425982313 -157.851562520.764562925982311 -158.4970095 21.711801925982314 -157.2061155tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33129313.post-13869894186140582522013-02-14T12:05:00.000-08:002013-02-14T12:05:03.228-08:00Adventure Hawaii

Jay has been in Hawaii for a little over a month and while he is doing well I hate it. I can't wait to get there too. After Jay left in January I spent time fixing up odd things in the house, getting rid of excess and making arrangements for the house. Yesterday I sold my truck.... I love that truck. I hated selling it but driving such a big vehicle on the roads of Hawaii would be awful. Jay has been getting around Wiakiki on a bike of all things. He has an apartment, a bike and other than not having me is doing every well. I leave here in 1 week to join him. We can't decide if we will buy a car on the island or just keep biking around for now.

This is a real change of lifestyle for us. Jay is on the 10th floor of a high rise apartment building. He has to walk or ride a bike everywhere. The culture is different will all the tourists every where. He is enjoying it so far although the work is also different enough to be difficult.

I wonder still how the boys will do here in Arizona by themselves. They will handle themselves well I know but I worry about them being able to keep up a house on their own. Most people move to an apartment to learn that kind of thing. We will just have to see. Jay reminds me that he did the same thing at their age.
This year has been nothing but weird. With Jace and Jaron both working full time we didn't have thanksgiving dinner until Saturday and Christmas appears to be the same issue. Because Jace and Jaron both work on Tuesday we opened presents on Sunday. It was a spur of the moment decision but worked well as that was the last day of the week that both boys were home from work. Or it would have worked well if Jaron hadn't been called into work for a few hours at 7:00 a.m. that morning. I am glad we did the presents when we were all together but it still made things feel weird..... different.... drawn out.... anti-climactic.

Today Jace works a 7 to 7 shift. He was called in after an emergency took his scheduled employee to a different post for the day. He works the same tomorrow while Jaron works 5am to 2pm. Jay and I will relax, watch the parades, do puzzles, and just enjoy each others company. hee hee hee. Revenge for all the years the kids got to enjoy the holidays...

One reason Jay and I have to keep reminding ourselves it is christmas is Jay leaves for Hawaii on Friday. We are excited but their is so much to do. Jay will start work on Monday while I finish up sell, sorting, and moving all our stuff to the new location. We have a rented apartment on Waikiki beach but it will not fit everything we own. Good thing we are leaving a lot of it here for the boys. I will join him in a few months. Leaving the boys here is the worse part but watching Jay pack up isn't easy either. I can't wait to be past this part completely.Harper Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14732863521601187814noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33129313.post-36885284623256383592011-11-21T13:15:00.000-08:002011-11-21T13:25:08.690-08:00Age before Beauty! As we reach a certain age things change.... Of course the horrible part is I am completely sure that Jay and I have not reached that age yet. Jay is on a real health kick right now. But then he is a very bright man. He is also on two permanent medications, with one additional for allergies he insists he doesn't have. What can we say, we have reached that age. My health is the same but I live in Denial land. I know my arthritis is flairing, my blood pressure is up, and my thyroid is off. I know it, but I avoid it too. Even my dog is at that certain age. This week he started a permanent therapy to keep him comfortable for as long as possible. He is getting older now. It is fun having an older dog because he is so easy to handle. Do you think there is some therapy to keep me comfortable for as long as possible?

As for beauty, I cut off all my hair this week too. I got so tired of dealing with it that I got a new short hairstyle. I like it but it is really different. Of course, the first thing that happened when I came home was Jaron did a double take and walked into the side of the couch. The couch has been the same place for months. Jace came in and his eyes got really big, then he said, "good afternoon grandma." He thought I looked like my mom. I do look a lot like my mother with my hair this short. It will take some getting used to.Harper Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14732863521601187814noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33129313.post-7777999538796196602011-09-08T20:01:00.000-07:002011-09-08T20:11:09.751-07:00No Back to School for you!It has been weird this year without sending children off to school. Jaron graduated last spring so my sons are both on their own for schooling from now on. I watched the grade school children load the buses for school the other morning only to realize how long we have been in Arizona. Jaron was a 5th grader when we came here. We went through all the bus routes, the car pools, homework, new testing, new immunizations, and finally high school activities here in Mesa. It doesn't hit you until you realize that you aren't going to be doing it any more. Robyn sent around the following today which made me laugh out loud:::::

Twas the night before school when all through the town,
The parents were cheering - a riotous sound.
By nine, kids were all washed and tucked into beds,
where memories of homework filled them with dread.
New pencils, new folders, new notebooks, too.
New teachers, new friends - their anxiety grew.
The parents just giggled when they learned of the fright,
and shouted to all "GO TO BED!!! Its a school night!

I loved that because it was so true for us. We loved sending the kids off to school but this year I realized that I am truly blessed. Because although I loved having young children, I am so glad to get rid of school shopping, homework, parent teacher, AIMs testing, school parking regulations, drop off and pick up routes, attendance policy, graduation requirements, etc...... I could go on and on.Harper Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14732863521601187814noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33129313.post-27234565894697912572011-03-20T17:54:00.000-07:002011-03-21T20:30:52.852-07:00Citrus it is!

There is one thing about spring in Arizona that we really appreciate. Citrus. We planted a lemon, grapefruit, and orange tree when we first moved here. The lemons are ready in January and February. Fresh off the trees we use them to make juice. My favorite is grapefruit although homemade lemonade is also a real treat.

All the fruit has to be picked by the middle of February at the first sign of buds. I went to the dentist today with Jaron. I hate going to the dentist office. I have no cavities, I haven't had any cavities since I had my braces removed but that doesn't mean my teeth don't hurt for hours after the cleaning is done.

I have always had issues with dentists. When I was 8 years old I went to the dentist for my normal appointment and my parents were concerned with the crowding in my newly arriving adult teeth. The dentist decided to extract 4 adult teeth to allow room for more teeth to break through. I didn't have the laughing gas but he was required to give me (an 8 year old) 8 shots of novicane to numb my mouth. Ok, I am usually not a wimp but I hated those shots even then. After inserting the needle the last time the dentist noticed the connection to the needle was broken.... I now had a mouth full of novicane instead of gums full. Most dentists would send you home until it wore off, not knowing how much novicane actually got in your system. This dentist did not. He proceeded to get a new needle and redo all 8 shots in my gums. After the actual extractions were done I don't think I have ever been that sore and sick. Come to find out I had novicane poisoning or something like that. It was awful and I haven't liked dentists ever since. On a positive note I haven't had many cavities since then either because I don't want the shots... hee he ehee

Jaron and Jace are doing ok dental wise. Jaron still has a lot of dental work to do. We put him in braces way to early. We thought it was such a bright idea. He had perfectly beautiful teeth by the time he was 15. Only problem was his wisdom teeth tried to erupt at 16 and now they are all crooked again. Unfortunately he will be put in braces again in the next year. Poor kid. I think that is a record. He will have 9 years total of braces when he is done.

I really shouldn't complain though. My dentist in Utah mentioned to me once that with all the care and dental innovation, we are the first generation expected to keep all our teeth for our entire life. I am proud to have all my own teeth. It is an accomplishment I hope my kids can make as well.

Harper Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14732863521601187814noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33129313.post-78123596439759317472010-08-24T17:05:00.000-07:002010-08-24T17:16:04.530-07:00I love Saturdays! It is funny that I still love Saturday when I am not working at the time. Saturday should be a day like any other but it really isn't. August is almost through so we have past my 23rd wedding anniversary and my 4.... birthday. School has started for Jaron, and Jay is working like usual. But all these things don't bring on the feeling of loving Saturdays. I have to admit.... It is all due to Football season. Saturday afternoon I was sitting in the kitchen making home made salsa while Jay sat in his throne watching the TV. Football playing in the background just made it feel like Saturday. And Fall.... It isn't fall yet but it is coming. Fall in Arizona is not much different than any other time of year. But it still feels like Fall and I have to admit. I love it.Harper Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14732863521601187814noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33129313.post-67140163066785285462010-08-05T20:24:00.000-07:002010-08-05T20:33:59.444-07:00Fallen Cake anyone!

Being that it is August and school starts in a week, we decided to bake a cake tonight. Nothing big really.... well it wouldn't have been if Jay hadn't been in a funny mood. As Jay was walking to put something in the trash I mentioned to be careful near the oven so the cake doesn't fall. Jay stood by the oven door and turned my way. Giving me a "...it eating grin" he proceeds to scream at the top of his lungs. Jace was sitting by me at the table so he saw my glare returned to Jay. After screaming Jay turns on the oven light and what do you know, the cake looks like brownies, all sunk in the center. I really couldn't believe it. Apparently Jay didn't know that cakes would really fall because of sound. The boys all thought it was a barrel of laughs. Of course, Jaron shooting Mountain dew out of his nose when his Dad screamed was kind of funny.
Harper Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14732863521601187814noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33129313.post-32821640212342001832010-07-18T21:16:00.000-07:002010-07-18T21:32:52.381-07:00Arizona Monsoon Madness

It has been a weird year for us weather wise in Arizona. I swear it didn't get hot until the end of June. Then it hasn't started getting humid until this week. We usually have monsoons before now. Tonight we started the lightning storms but there really isn't the winds that usually come with it. It has been a quiet summer, I am sure we should be thankful.

Jaron is off this summer, the first summer he hasn't attended summer school since he entered high school. He is a senior next year, only has a few classes he even needed to complete for graduation. He loves being home. Jay and I could do without the staying up until 2:00 a.m. but what can we say. He is finally acting like a teenager. No, he still hasn't cut his hair. Yes, he is currently 6'3" and still growing mind you. Sometime I wonder where this kid came from. If he didn't look so much like a Brenchley I would really wonder.

Jace is attending the Art Institute of Phoenix still. He started in January and as it is a year round program he had only 3 weeks off for summer. He just started back last week. The art classes he loves, the general ed - not so much! I am really impressed with the cartooning and animation he has created. I wish I could do that some how. Although, his episode of spending an hour trying to determine if his characters boobs were too big or lopsided was real entertaining.

Jay is off in Washington DC for some meeting with the Federal Director of transportation. However, it has a few bright points. He doesn't have the problems with allergies he had when he was little. He also doesn't require walked as often as he used to as a puppy (much to the pleasure of my sons). It isn't as if he is old yet, more like middle aged at 7 years old.

However, he injured the top of his foot about a month ago. It started a little bump almost like he got bit by some bug. Then he started licking it..... and licking it.... and licking is somemore. After about a month where it wasn't going away and he kept bothering it, we took him to the vet. The vet takes one look at it and says "yup, he has irritated the bite so much he has given himself and infection." He explained that dogs will get bored and just randomly lick at a sore until it becomes an obsessive complusive behaivor. I have an Obessive Complusive dog!!!! ( I think I must attract the behaivor because sometimes I swear I have an obsessive complusive husband and kids too.) Anyway, the vets remedy.... antibiodics for the infection and cast the foot to make him not lick it. I just laughed. It probably shouldn't be funny but I could just see my dog running around with a cast on his foot.

I explained to the vet if they are just trying to keep him from licking the foot we would put him in a bootie. (Gandolff has booties for when we are on the boat... don't want his nails to cut up the upholstry.) Jace went out the car got the bootie and the vet was real impressed because Gandolff just walked around like it wasn't even on. He explained that dogs usually chew off a cast so it was a great idea.

Gandolff has been in his bootie for about 2 weeks now. He doesn't appear to mind it but it is really irritating to Jay. We are accustomed to the click of the dogs nails on the tile all day long. We aren't accustomed to click, click, click, woosh. Even when he is walking on the carpet we still hear the woosh. I don't think I have slept in the same two weeks without getting woke up when the dog walks around at night.
Harper Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14732863521601187814noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33129313.post-31914101157509460202009-11-04T16:42:00.000-08:002009-11-04T16:51:51.795-08:00Joys of Arizona!

We haven't added in a long time as not much is going on in Arizona. I found out in June that I would be laid off due to positions in Phoenix being eliminated. My last day was supposed to be in August but have been asked to extend ever since. Just food for thought of course..... Actually, a lot has happened since November. We have been busy with the Light Rail for Jay and Open Enrollment for me. It seems that December and January are always this way but this year was 10 times worse.

In December we sighted our first Scorpions since we have moved to AZ. Jace walked in his room and saw one crawling across the floor. We caught it, played with it, then they squished it. hee hee hee! That same week we saw one in the garage. We had people working on our trees around the yard so I think they got stirred up and found their way inside. I am sure the scorpions were always there, but we didn't notice. What we don't notice won't hurt us....

December also brought Christmas, of course. Jay and the boys got a salt water aquarium set up. It is actually for Jay but the boys enjoy working on it as much as Jay does. I am surpised at the amount of time they spend playing with it. We had one in Utah and really missed it when we moved here. Jay has done an amazing job with it. When it gets more of the set up done I will post a picture of it.

The end of December brought the opening of the valley Light Rail. Jay has been crazy busy, working 12 hour days, but it was worth it. The opening went off without a hitch. Normal service now has been good if you could stop all the idiot drivers from trying to turn in front of the train. There have been 11 intersection accidents since opening. Considering that the system her has 140+ intersections that really isn't bad. The good thing is the design of the train worked out perfectly and pushes the cars off the track instead of demolishing them.

In January Jay is still busy at work with all the events happening. He spends a lot of time at it while the boys and I just relax at home. Sometimes I think this is really the good life. I know the boys and I need to get over the wintertime blues and start expending energy but we haven't yet. It is a great life though.

February has so far been more relaxed. Jay is working a lot still but it is slowing down. Jay and I did see Air Force One land yesterday. We were on our way home from work and it flew right over us. We knew it was coming into town, they stop all air traffic and auto traffic around the airport for a few minutes. It was fun to see though, a much bigger plane than I thought it would be. Now we have seen the Space Shuttle and Air Force One in person. (We saw the space shuttle flew over our house in Utah years ago.)

Not much else is going on..... For Now!!!! Knock on wood!Harper Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14732863521601187814noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33129313.post-71317833306603020252008-11-17T10:27:00.000-08:002008-11-17T10:36:45.075-08:00Where has it gone?

I can't believe that we are already through half of November. Soon it will be Thanksgiving, Jace's birthday, and then December. Where has it gone? I know it feels like we are always busy but I can't say that we have done much. Jay is really pushing for the December light rail opening here in Phoenix which keeps him very busy. Being the boss isn't as easy as it looks! My work is in the middle of Medicare Open Enrollment so I spend all my days, some nights, and even weekends putting out fires. (Not literally at least.) I really didn't plan on a career managing 1200+ telephone lines and 4 call center vendors. But I do love to be busy.

Jace and Jaron are doing really good. Jace is dating off and on, no one special yet but that's ok. He is still so young. Jaron is growing like a weed. He is now over 6 foot and still going. I don't know what I am going to do with him. I can't even keep him in pants. Jace is a Huntsman in build, doesn't fit the Brenchley, or Harper side. But Jaron, now he is a Brenchley; very tall, very stocky. I just can't believe that my baby is so tall. This is the only picture I have on my laptop but I should get another. Jaron has cut his hair now. I couldn't resist though, we are on Jay's trains.
Harper Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14732863521601187814noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33129313.post-21950365997848210012008-10-30T08:17:00.000-07:002008-10-30T08:31:32.860-07:00The Color White! What is it with us and the color white? My first car ever was white... The first car Jay and I bought together was white... Technically we have only owned one car that wasn't white, but that was a fluke because the only thing I didn't like about the car was the color. We just have a thing for white.

Our Toyota Tundra was a lease, and the contract was up this month. We had a choice to refinance and keep it, or buy a new one. We decided in early October to buy a new one but there wasn't a single white Tundra Crew Cab in all of Arizona. We seriously looked at a silver one and even looked at GMC's instead but we wanted a White Tundra. My husband, being the amazing man that he is, found one in Las Vegas. Now, it is funny to me that we would go to this length but last weekend Jay flew to Las Vegas and bought a Tundra. Sunday he drove it home. It was so funny. Neither of us really wanted to deal with the whole process of buying a car right now but we had to. I still can't believe Jay was so resourceful, and tenacious to go all that way to get it. It really is funny, but I do love the truck. And being Jay of course, he negiotiated better than anyone I know to get it. Sometimes I really am lucky to have him.

Other than the truck we have all just been hanging on around here. I had a major melt down on my computer at work this last month. It has taken the last two weeks to try and get things up and running again. I still don't have Instand Messenger up yet. This is the busy ramp up for us at work so it was just the most perfect timing to lose my machine.

We got Jaron's school pictures back. I have to find a way to scan them to publish. I mentioned before that Jaron's hair was down to the middle of his shoulder blades. It was all one length and really long. It was also blond. We got the pictures back and two days later Jaron cut it all off. Jay calls him a Qtip. It is so thick that it stands up straight when it is this short. But the funny thing is it is also back to brown because he cut off all the color. Two weeks later I am still trying to get used to seeing him with it that short. It looks so different. At 6.0 foot and short hair he looks so grown up.

Jace is just Jace right now. His big thing is he wants to find a job. I think he is ready to settle down and just work for a while. We will see if he changes his mind again this time. hee hee heeHarper Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14732863521601187814noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33129313.post-39737036281168522342008-10-01T17:12:00.000-07:002008-10-01T17:18:53.711-07:00October..... BOOO!!!!!I can't believe it is October already. I only wrote in my blog once last month. Where did the time go. I do like this time of year though. At work this is the beginning of our "SALES" period so I am extremely busy ramping up all the partners. At home we have been working on getting our new yard lights installed in the back. Of course, the pool got a clog in it and had to be repaired so the bad evens out with the new lights.

Yesterday Jay thought it would be funny to measure us all to see how tall we were.... I was glad to know I haven't shrunk yet. Without shoes on I am still 5'7" tall. It made me laugh. Of course, without shoes Jay is still 6'3" tall. At least there isn't a foot difference between us like my parents were. Jace left his shoes on and was 5'11". My guess is he would be 5'10". See Gregory, he takes after you! Now the kicker. Without shoes on Jaron is 5'11 1/2". I would say he is 6'. WOW..... Where did the time go, how did he catch up. And better yet- who decided it was ok for me to be so short!

Just call me shrimpy!!!!!Harper Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14732863521601187814noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33129313.post-74960578794494655382008-09-01T09:50:00.000-07:002008-09-01T10:01:07.659-07:00Monsoon!

We have been saying for days that this was such a mild Monsoon season. We didn't have any microbursts that caused damage. As usual we spoke too soon! This is the aftermath of a wild storm that went through this last Thursday. It was truly wild. The lightning was so thick it looked like a lazer light show. There wasn't even any break in the thunder, just a constant rumbling. It really was cool but with the 79-100 mph winds going through downtown, damage to the new rail line kept Jay busy: support beam broken on the rail wires, stations with missing levelors, etc. It was a real mess downtown on Friday and 50,000 people were without power for most of Friday. The local news showed rows of power poles laying out on the ground in some parts of Phoenix. That is bad with our heat. Makes me thankful for underground electrical used where we are.

Harper Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14732863521601187814noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33129313.post-28279805154884448582008-08-23T13:40:00.000-07:002008-08-23T13:50:56.770-07:00Salsa!Jay and I like salsa. We have been making salsa for years. In Utah we would wait until the tomatoes come on the end of September and make at least 30 pints of canned salsa. Since we have moved to Arizona getting tomatoes by the bushel is very difficult. Therefore we are stuck with making fresh salsa by the batch. I love Jay's salsa and the fresh uncooked is so good. It is different than what we used to can but is still delicious. The only problem, I am allergic to fresh tomatoes. As I sit here looking at the big batch of salsa Jay is making I know I will eat a good amount of it and end up with a mouth full of cancors for it...... Ok, there are two problems, I also have no self control when it comes to Jay's salsa. I could eat the whole batch before the kids get back from shopping. I better not or they might throw me in the pool.

Salsa always reminds me of Fall in Utah. The cool crisp air, smell of falling leaves on the ground, and the frequent breeze blowing through Pleasant Grove. In Arizona we can have salsa all year round but it isn't the same. Makes me kind of home sick.

As for what's going on.... Jay just got back from San Francisco for business and will be heading out for Portland Oregon in the next week. At least they are only day trips or over a single night. Jace starts college back up this week. He is only taking the standard English, Math type classes with the exception of Japanese. He is really excited for that class. Got to take something fun to make it through each semester.Harper Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14732863521601187814noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33129313.post-44483476759329095642008-08-11T09:28:00.000-07:002008-08-11T09:34:20.041-07:00August!August is always a busy month for us with School starting, our anniversary and my birthday all lumped together. This year didn't change that. Jaron started school on August 6th. I can't believe it is so early. I hate that we don't get at least 1/2 of August as summer. But he is there now and dealing ok.

Two days later was Jay and my 21st Wedding Anniversary..... I can't believe it has been that long. Of course, if I tell Jay that he reminds me that it is actually 25 years we have been together. He is so helpful sometimes. We both worked so we didn't do much for the anniversary but we are proud. It is something to be proud of to know that we have worked so hard to keep our family together. I am dang lucky to have a man willing to put in so much effort. And everyone thought I was the one that would have to work at being calm!!!! If you only knew.... hee hee hee

Last weekend we finished our last tile job in this house. Jay has wanted to do it for a year but we always seem to do it in the summer. It is great to be indoors then. It looks good but I am glad it is the last one. I think I have sore muscles where I don't even have muscles to begin with.

Jace starts school next week then we will all be back to the grind stone. I will not have my own live in maid anymore so it will be hard for me too. Of course, I won't have a 19 year old home making messes all day either... hee hee heeHarper Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14732863521601187814noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33129313.post-48980340037954136922008-08-01T17:03:00.001-07:002008-09-01T10:02:32.938-07:00Me

Hi all!
This is Jace.
Ok I'm good.
Harper Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14732863521601187814noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33129313.post-46629736083608742992008-08-01T17:00:00.000-07:002008-08-01T17:02:45.552-07:00Not Ready Yet!Jaron came into me today while I was working and mentioned that he starts school next week. NEXT WEEK! Today is August 1st and by Wednesday of next week Jaron will be in school again. I am so not ready for this. I am not ready for him to be back in school. Not that I mind him going to school every day but the constant worries about home work, grades, fashion, friends, etc. I am really not ready.

Jace doesn't start yet at least so we have a while for that but August is supposed to be my month to enjoy my birthday, and anniversary. Now we will have school going before either of those happen. This really bites!Harper Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14732863521601187814noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33129313.post-37723910776963631802008-07-27T10:13:00.000-07:002008-07-27T10:27:08.477-07:00YO, Director!!!!Well, it is official. After Jay's boss left last month Jay has been acting Director of Valley Metro Light Rail. He refers to the experience as his 45 day job interview. Last week the company made it official and hired him for the job. Jay was so nervous for the actual interview and so relieved when he was notified that they were promoting him. He called home exstatic. Of course, all us at home weren't nearly as excited as he thought we should be. But the thing is, none of us were surprised at all. We knew that they would not be so stupid to hire someone else when they had Jay. We all knew how well Jay does his job so it wasn't a surprise at all. But it is good to have it official.

As for me, I have been at home all last week. How do you get a neck muscle spasm while lying in bed? Well I managed it last Friday night and spent the next few days with a migraine, then to the doctor, then on bedrest. It sucks getting old. Seriously though after a few days on muscle relaxants I am fine now. I didn't get to go out on the boat with the boys yesterday though because of it. How sad!

Jay took the boys out to the lake yesterday and spent the day wakeboarding. Jace has decided that he really wants to learn how. He has tried but not with everything he had. Jay was so proud of both boys yesterday. They kept getting up and trying and trying. After a bit they both got it and were wakeboarding without any problem. Jace was so excited. But they were also exhausted. It made for a great day for all. Next week I get to go so I can see them.Harper Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14732863521601187814noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33129313.post-62963870412184088232008-07-10T20:00:00.000-07:002008-07-10T20:04:55.314-07:00Monsoon!Tonight is the first night the monsoons hit for the year. The rain doesn't last long but it blows and comes down hard. Jay goes around the house opening all the windows because we love to listen to it. I am sitting in the front windows watching it blow, pour and I can smell the rain. I love the monsoons. I know we should feel lucky because it has been such a mild summer so far, even with the first monsoon it wasn't as humid as usual. But even in the worst years, I can't help but like the sounds, smells, and feel of the rain. Since we get to sit indoors, it really isn't so bad.Harper Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14732863521601187814noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33129313.post-14057793395549232222008-07-09T11:02:00.000-07:002008-07-10T19:57:34.583-07:00BOOM!

So this is our train ride to the bridge to watch the fireworks on the 4th of July.
